Owner and President Helmut K. Marosits had been working in the home improvement industry for more than twelve years before he decided to start H & R. Helmut was working for a large home improvement company at the time and he was in charge of more than a dozen offices throughout the New England and New York area. He entered the firm at an entry level position in sales; then he quickly advanced through the ranks of the company. In 1979, Helmut relocated to the Springfield area and started H & R.
Helmut’s goal is to provide the residents of Western Massachusetts with a professional choice for all of their home improvement needs. H & R is incorporated in 1980 and Helmut’s personal attention to his customers begins to payoff. The company grows through previous customers and their referrals to family and friends. Since H & R is able to offer homeowners every service they need to remodel their homes’ customers are able to continue a working relationship with the company.
H & R begins building new construction homes in the Ridgecrest area of Westfield during the early 1980’s. Helmut’s unique designs and quality workmanship is an immediate success. H & R builds more homes in the area and the company begins to be recognized as an industry leader in Massachusetts.
H & R receives many awards from local organizations such as the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) for its service to the community and the company’s professionalism. Helmut is elected to serve as President of the NAHB of Western Massachusetts in 1987. Helmut remains very active in the organization and still holds a seat on the Board of Directors today.
Now after 20 years in business the company promotes a new Vice President to the company. Helmut’s son Hunter is promoted to serve as Vice President in 2001. Hunter has been working for the company since 1997. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Bentley College in Waltham, Massachusetts and currently works for H & R full time. His primary focus is sales and marketing. Hunter is gaining new customers for H & R as well as serving previous customers. Hunter plans to stay with H & R and continue to grow the family business into the future.
